Significant Facts About The Roulette Wheel |
The first roulette wheel was devised by accident by Blaise Pascal while he was attempting to make a perpetual motion machine. As time passed, it underwent modifications and evolved into the present-day wheel.
The roulette game is, on occasion, thought to have originated the Italian Hoca and English E-O games. These two games utilized a revolving wheel with uniquely marked slots for players’ bets and for bets won for the casino. Clearly, E-O was the first wheel game with Even and Odd bets and which are still utilized in contemporary roulette games.
Roulette Wheel Structure
The structure of the roulette wheel is very simple. It has a uniquely constructed spinning wheel on top of the roulette table. The numbers range from 1 to 36, positioned alternately (black, red, high, low, even and odd). The wheel also has an additional pocket for the numbers 0 and 00. (Only the American roulette wheel has the number 00). There are distinctive slots near the numbers where the ball lands at random. Roulette Wheel Design
The roulette wheel has two key components: the static bowl and the wheelhead. The bowl is constructed out of solid wood and occasionally with plastic materials or casings. The bowl is made up of the ball track, the lower ball track brim (which has specially-designed ball deflectors), and a spindle which holds the wheelhead as it rotates.
The roulette wheelhead rests on the static bowl and is properly aligned with the upper and lower ball tracks. The wheelhead’s outside rim holds the colored numbers and slots where the roulette ball settles. The middle part of the wheelhead is the “cone,” (so-called because of his shape), which allows the ball to rotate back into the pockets. The turret is an ornate section which conceals the height adjuster. The roulette wheel is thoroughly inspected and examined for any flaws or defects before it is used in the casino.
