What are the best ways to read a Roulette wheel or table? |
The first time you step up to a modern roulette table it can look like a scrambled mess of numbers and lines. At first it can be a little overwhelming. Once you learn how to read the table roulette can be a fun game.
A roulette table will have three rows of numbers divided by lines. The side closest to the player is broken into larger sections to bet on. Roulette bets can be divided at first into two different types: inside and outside. Inside bets are bets on the different numbers on the wheel. Since there are 36 numbers and usually a 0 and a 00, there are 38 different individual numbers you can bet on. If you put your chips on one number and it hits you will be paid 35:1. The second way to be the inside is a split bet. A split bet will be placed on the line between two numbers. If either of the two numbers come up you will be paid 17:1 for these bets. The third inside bet is called a street bet. If you place your bet at the top of a row of three numbers and one of them come up you will be paid 11:1. A square or corner bet is made by placing chips on the intersection of four different numbers and will pay 8:1. And finally a six number bet is made by betting on the top intersect of two rows of numbers. This will pay the winner at 5:1.
Outside bets aren’t made on a specific number. These bets will cover one third or half the numbers. The outside bets that cover one third of the roulette table will pay 2:1 and outside bets that cover half the numbers pay 1:1. If you’re betting on the outside and the 0 or 00 hit then you will lose your bet. At the right side of the table a player can bet on the long rows of numbers. Just below the numbers there are three sections divided for the first 12, second 12 and third 12 numbers. The even money bets consist of red and black, or 1-18 and 19-36.
Roulette tables have minimum bets. If the minimum bet is ten and you’re playing the inside then you can divide ten or more chips across as many numbers or combinations you choose. When betting the outside you will put at least the minimum bet on each spot you choose. There will also be a maximum amount you can bet. The min and max bets will change from table to table and be the same if you’re betting inside or outside. Each player at a roulette table will have their own color of chips.
When playing roulette a player has to remember that each spin is independent. If you bet on red and it comes up black do not think that it is more likely to come up red on the next spin. The odds of a roulette wheel are the same every single spin. Try not to fill your head with superstitions about past results.
Roulette can be a lot of fun and excitement. It has a good pace and there is the anticipation watching the wheel spin and the ball drop. Roulette is also a social game.
